The portion of the Verdon called "Verdon Gorge" is situated between the village of Castellane and the place called the "Point Sublime" which is the entry of the Verdon Grand Canyon.

Along its 22 kilometers, rafting and airboat kayaking are the main activities there due to the many white water rapids.

Between each white water section, a more peaceful area is encountered allowing to observe the beautiful surroundings of the Verdon Gorge.

The Verdon Gorge are subject to water releases from upstream EDF dams from the town of Castellane. When the dam is open and welcomes water, it becomes possible to practice the activities such airboat kayaking and rafting.

When closed, the river is not necessarily dry but the water level is not sufficient in order to navigate. It is then that activity sych as aqua trekking become possible.

During summer, water releases are set for Tuesday and Fridays (which could be subject to change). Summer is the busiest holiday of the year. The freshness of Verdon is appreciated due to its elevated temperatures.

In spring, the water releases are irregular. The releases are only known a few days in advance. Such that they depend on their current climatic and hydrological conditions of the time.

Thanks to the melting snow and spring rains, the water releases become more frequent as they are in summer. This is a great time for rafting.

Autumn is definitely the season where the Verdon put on its most beautiful colours. The colour of the leaves pass on from a green to yellow then from an orange to a red. Rafting in the Verdon Gorge is frequent such that the water releases occur daily.
